Fraidy Mintz has been harboring a dark and dangerous secret for over sixty years. One day she reveals it to Miri, an inquiring young reporter. Miri wants to see justice done, but the outcome could be terrifying. Suffering from bitterness over her own painful secret, Miri must make a fateful decision that will affect her life and those around her. Popular author Susie Garber transports readers back to Miami in 1942, when rampant anti-Semitism meant No Jews Allowed signs on hotel doors; when air raid sirens, blackouts, and German ships trying to invade Florida were an ongoing threat; and when ration cards and Jewish refugees escaping from war-torn Europe were daily realities. Readers will be captivated by this emotionally gripping and suspenseful novel as Miri courageously uncovers disturbing secrets in disguise. To read a review of this book click here
